Parish Youth of Nuvem defeated Curtorim Gymkana 2-0 and lifted the Nagoa Panchayat Cup and Rs 15,000 in the finals of all-Goa football tournament organized by Pax of Nagoa Sports Club at Nagoa grounds on Sunday. They led 1-0 at the break.
The Sunday crowd was treated to some beautiful soccer with the Nuvem boys playing a tactical game. It once looked as if Curtorim Gymkana, the pre-final favourites, would outsmart Nuvem Youth but it proved incorrect as Nuvem gave a good account of themselves with Francis Noronha mesmerising the Curtorim defence. He even scored a brilliant goal in the 12th minute.
In the second half, Curtorim Gymkana played with renewed vigour and tried every trick in their book to level terms, but the defence of Nuvem Youth withstood Curtorim’s dangerous moves with ease.
With the supporters of both teams in full force, the game turned agressive with both the players trying to outwit each other, but somehow the Curtorim lads could not click as a team.
Nuvem Boys ,who came with a specific game plan ,further upset Curtorim scoring their second goal through Remy Colaco.
